一.burst：n. 爆發，破裂，陣 v. 爆裂，迸發，沖，闖
【詞義辨析】
break, burst, crack, crush, fracture, shatter, smash,
break: 常用詞，含義廣泛，多指猛然用力將堅硬物打破或損壞。
burst: 指某物因內部外部壓力過大而出現嚴重破裂、爆開或撐破。
crack: 多指因長期使用或經受壓力，物體表現呈現裂紋、裂口或破裂、裂開，但一般沒成碎片。
crush: 指用力把東西壓破或使變形。
fracture: 比crack的破裂程度更深更嚴重，常指斷裂，醫學上指骨折。
shatter: 指破裂為許多支離破碎的碎片，多用指易碎事物。
smash: 指突然而猛烈地重擊某物，使之破碎或完全變形。
【詞語用法】
1.burst out表示“爆發”，一般在其后接動名詞，而burst into表示“突然發作”，后面一般接名詞；burst into tears同burst out crying均表示“忽然哭出來”，但是前者用法比較普遍。“忽然哭出來”偶爾還可表示成burst out into tears或是burst out into crying；
2.burst into laughter同burst out laughing均表示“忽然笑出來”，但是后者用法比較普遍；
3.burst有時也可表示“充滿，裝滿”，常與介詞with連用。

錯句：She burst out to cry when she heard of his death.
糾正：She burst out crying when she heard of his death.

cry: 一般指因恐懼、痛苦、驚奇等而喊叫。
shout: 指有意識地高聲喊叫，常用于提出警告、發命令或喚起注意等。
exclaim: 多指因高興、憤怒、痛苦、驚訝等突發感情而高聲喊叫。
roar: 指發出大而深沉的聲音、吼叫或咆哮。
scream: 指因恐具、快樂或痛苦而發出的尖叫聲。
shriek: 指因驚恐、痛苦等或其它感情而發出比scream更為尖銳、刺耳的叫聲。
yell: 多指求援、鼓勵時的呼叫。也可指因外界因素刺激而發出尖厲聲音。
call: 指大聲說話或喊叫，以引起某人的注意。
【例句用法】
1.You don't have to yell; I can hear you.
你用不著喊，我聽得見。
2.She let out a yell and ran home.
她尖叫了一聲跑回了家。
