notice作名詞表示“通知”時，短語at short notice中的at在美式英語中可用on代替；
give notice或have notice一般指離職或遷讓的通知：
當后面跟不定式，notice前面可加冠詞a。
He gave me a notice to leave by the end of the week.

give notice后面也可跟that從句。
The tenant gave notice that he was going to move on the first day of the next month.

【詞義辨析】
notice, note, mind, attend, remark,
notice: 指對所見、所聞、所感的人或事作出的反應，側重結果。
note: 語氣比notice強，指不僅注意到，而且記錄下來，側重注意的認真與仔細。
mind: 指用心地去觀察，了解某人或某物以達到某一目的，常用于命令句中。
attend: 一般用詞，側重專心于某事。
remark: 一般指經過思維活動而注意到。

【詞語用法】
contact作名詞時，既可作單數，也可作復數。英國人習慣用其單數形式，而美國人則習慣用其復數形式，表示“聯系”的意思。

contact作動詞時，指“與……聯系”。
During my stay in the city I contacted several teachers.
表示“開始與某人接觸”時，可以用以下來兩種表達方式：come into contact with和come in contact with。前者比后者使用更頻繁；
make contact with 表示“與某人進行接觸”；
contact的幾個注意點：
有時可指“被聯系的人”。
