二.demand:n.要求, 需求 v.要求, 查問, 需要
【語法用法】
demand作為名詞時后面可以跟介詞for，表示“需求”。
There is a great demand for apples.
注意demand作為及物動詞時，其后不跟介詞for。
They demands more helps.
demand后接that從句，從句應該要用虛擬時態，用should或shall。
He makes the demand that he shall(should) leave the place immediately.
可 省略shall(should)，但決不可用leaves或left。
demand做動詞時，不能把指被要求的人的詞如him，her做賓語。
I shall demand of him to answer.
句中of不能省略。
demand有時可解釋為“責問”，而且語氣很重。
He demanded of her.
注意句中的of。
demand后通常跟不定式。
She demanded to see my book.
【錯句舉例與錯句分析】
錯句: She demanded I stop seeing them.
訂正: She demanded that I should stop seeing them.
翻譯: 她要求我停止見他們。
分析: demand后面一般跟that引導的從句，后接賓語。
【詞義辨析】
1.ask, demand, inquire, question
這些動詞均含有“問，詢問”之意。
ask最普通用詞，可與demand, inquire和question換用，但ask用于口語中，指提出問題讓人回答。
demand指根據自己的權利、職責或身份認為有必要弄清情況而正式發問，常隱含命令對方回答的意味。
inquire較正式用詞，指為得到真實情況而詳細詢問或調查了解。
question指因感到可疑或為了解情況，弄清究竟而發問，有時指一連串的發問。
2.ask, beg, demand, require, request, implore, claim, pray, entreat
這些動詞均有“要求，請求”之意。
ask最普通用詞，指向對方提出要求或請求，長、晚輩，上下級之間都可使用。
beg指懇切地或再三地請求或要求，常含低三下四意味，也多用于應酬場合。
demand一般指理直氣壯地提出強烈要求，或堅持不讓對方拒絕的要求。
require強調根據事業、需要或紀律、法律等而提出的要求。
request正式用詞，指非常正式，有禮貌的請求或懇求，多含擔心因種種原因對方不能答應的意味。
implore書面用詞，著重指迫切、焦急或痛苦地懇求或哀求，常含較強的感情色彩。
claim指有權或宣稱有權得到而公開提出的要求。
pray語氣莊重，指熱情、誠懇和敬祈的要求，現不很常用。
entreat泛指一般“懇求或哀求”，含企圖說服對方或用熱烈的請求軟化反對意見的意味。
