Russian, Finnish Santa Clauses meet at border
俄羅斯芬蘭圣誕老人在邊境相遇
A summit meeting that could only happen once a year. At the border between Finland and Russia, the Finnish Santa Claus meets Russia's Father Frost to exchange greetings...and presents. The tradition started in 2002, and this year it continues, despite the current tensions between Russia and the West.
這是一年只會進行一次的峰會。在芬蘭和俄羅斯邊境處，芬蘭的圣誕老人和俄羅斯的冰霜之父相遇，互相問候，交換禮物。該傳統始于2002年，盡管俄羅斯和西方之間關系緊張，今年該傳統仍然繼續。
(SOUNDBITE) (Russian) RUSSIAN FATHER FROST, SAYING: "There're no such things as geographical borders for doing good. I am very happy to once again see my friend and my colleague from Finland. Today we met folk and gave them a celebration, both Russian and Finnish folk. And I like that very much."

They exchanged presents and enjoyed a bit of entertainment...and of course, capping the day off with a sleigh ride.

Christmas Eve in the Holy Land

It is Christmas Eve in the Holy Land. Here in Nazareth, revered as the birthplace of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary, hundreds of local and visiting Christians celebrate.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) MARLENE, TOURIST FROM SWEDEN, SAYING: "I have come to Nazareth today to celebrate the birth of Jesus. And since this is where it all started we thought we'd start at the beginning."

The parade is followed by a mass. Meanwhile, in the West Bank, thousands of pilgrims gather in Bethlehem, where Christians believe Jesus was born. Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas was there to attend the traditional midnight mass.

More than ten thousands visitors are expected -- many wishing to celebrate Christmas in the place they believe it began.

Germans rush to buy traditional Christmas foods

Shoppers in Berlin trying to beat the holiday rush line up before dawn to buy traditional Christmas foods. The first customers at Rogacki delicatessen pick up roast geese and seafood -- among other festive treats. Claus Deter says he can't wait for the evening's meal.
柏林的購物者們希望趕在黎明之前避免長長的隊伍來購買傳統的圣誕食品。Rogacki熟食店的首批顧客正在挑選烤鵝和海產品，還有其他節日食品。Claus Deter表示，他非常期待晚上的大餐。

Many other shops and restaurants in Germany are closed on Christmas Eve. It's traditionally the day when presents are exchanged...and the festive feasts begin.
