Airline exec rant sparks outrage
韓國航空副總裁驅逐空乘引憤怒
There's a nasty atmosphere in the air in South Korea. Reports that the daughter of Korean Airlines chairman had a plane on which she was a passenger sent back to the boarding gate to expel a member of staff. Heather Cho, seen here in file pictures, was reportedly upset that a flight attendant had served her nuts in a bag, not in a dish. Cho is a vice-president with the airline, responsible for in-flight service. But the reports have unleashed disapproval across South Korea.

(SOUNDBITE) (Korean) SONG JI-HYUN, SOUTH KOREAN RESIDENT, SAYING: "Returning a plane to the gate is only possible when there is something very important that happened. Therefore the vice-president was wrong to order the plane to return because of her personal feelings against the service, which followed protocol."
韓國居民SONG JI-HYUN：“只有發生非常重要的事情時才能讓飛機返回登機門。因此副總裁僅僅因為自己對空乘服務不滿就讓飛機返回是錯誤的。”
The airline has issued an apology for the incident. It confirmed the vice-president involved was Cho. A company official said on Tuesday she had resigned. South Korea's Transport Ministry says it's investigating to see if any regulations had been broken.

According to Ukraine's military, one should not be fooled by these seemingly quiet streets of Donetsk. They say at least 13 violations were committed by the rebels, including two artillery attacks on the Donetsk airport… all during the "Day of Silence" ceasefire - seen as a test to coincide with the start of a new round of peace talks. Some Donetsk residents say they had a hard time believing a ceasefire was in effect.

Fighting in the past few weeks has been intense around the airport in Donetsk… with rebels attempting to seize it from government control.

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said he had hoped a sustainable ceasefire would be obtained. But with troops recording numerous violations from the rebels, it's anyone's guess as to when, or if, that will happen.

Typhoon Hagupit weakens

Typhoon Hagupit weakened to a tropical depression on Tuesday as it appeared set to leave the Philippines. At least 27 people have been killed and thousands of homes destroyed. Farmers are lamenting the devastation. Some say they'll have to harvest what they can.

Nearly 1.7 million people evacuated from their homes were preparing to return. Despite the destruction it's a far cry from the lethal impact of super typhoon Haiyan last year when thousands were killed or went missing, and over a million homes were wrecked. Hagupit, the Filipino word for 'lash', is heading towards the South China Sea and was expected to leave the country by Wednesday.
