Uruguay takes Guantanamo inmates
烏拉圭接收關(guān)塔納摩囚犯
The six detainees released from the U.S. Guantanamo Bay Detention Centre have been taken to this military hospital in Uruguay. The South American country says they've been accepted as refugees. The four Syrians, a Tunisian and a Palestinian were freed after more than a decade without being charged. Uruguay's president says the Guantanamo Bay prison is a disgrace.

That has nothing."

Seven other prisoners have already been released from Guantanamo since early November. Another 136 are still being held. The prison was opened after the September 11th attacks in 2001 to house terrorism suspects rounded up overseas. President Barack Obama's keen to close it because he says it's damaging the U.S. image internationally. So far obstacles by the U.S. congress have stopped him doing so.

MH17 debris heads to Netherlands

Wreckage from Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 downed over Ukraine passes through Germany aboard a convoy of trucks. The pieces are being taken to the Netherlands for investigators to study in detail. Much of the wreckage has yet to be recovered from the war zone where the plane crashed. A ground-to-air missile fired from territory held by pro-Russian rebels is considered the most likely culprit. All 298 passengers and crew were killed when the plane came down in July. The Netherlands, whose nationals make up the majority of the victims, has launched the largest criminal investigation in its history.

Manila, Batangas brace for Typhoon Hagupit

These Manila residents are bracing for the worst, at a temporary shelter... as powerful Typhoon Hagupit churns closer to the Philippine capital. The storm has killed at least 27 people on Samar Island, leaving homes flattened, trees scattered across roads and power cut. This,after last year's ruthless Typhoon Haiyan, has prompted a warning from San Juan mayor Rodolfo Manalo.
