Two dead, after student opens fire Washington state high school

Authorities say a student opened fire in the cafeteria of this Washington state high school Friday, killing a classmate and wounding at least four others before taking his own life. All of the victims are young people, and three are in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the head. Authorities said they did not yet know what may have motivated the assailant. Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring.

Witnesses described the gunman as a well-liked freshman and member of the school's wrestling and football teams. They said he walked into the school's cafeteria at lunchtime and opened fire at a table of classmates.

Supporters of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff celebrate as she wins a narrow re-election. She's campaigned on her party's strong record of reducing poverty over the last 12 years.

Opposition leader Aecio Neves won 48 percent of votes. He'd promised to lift Brazil out of recession and was more popular in the richer south.

Rousseff's got a second term in office but she's unlikely to enjoy much of a honeymoon. A slowing economy as well as allegations of corruption are likely to become major political headaches in the coming months.

Volcano lava flow threatens Hawaii village
火山巖漿威脅夏威夷村莊
Volcanic lava creeps closer to a village in Hawaii's Big Island. Authorities said over the weekend they're preparing to evacuate about 4,000 people living in the area, as it could reach homes in a few days. The lava's moving at a rate of nearly 10 kilometres per hour. It was first spotted coming out of the volcano's vent in late June and has made its way through miles of thick forest.
