Brazil preps for historic presidential runoff

Security is tight as Brazilians prepare to head to the polls on Sunday... ...in the closest presidential election in decades. Opposition candidate Aecio Neves, a pro-business senator... ...And leftist incumbent President Dilma Rousseff make the most of these final hours to rally supporters.

It has been a bitter campaign, with candidates sparring over how best to revive Brazil's stagnant economy. Each has accused the other of political corruption. On the eve of the runoff election, Neves visits the tomb of his grandfather, Tancredo Neves -- a former president-elect.

New Yorkers are safe despite news of Ebola patient: Mayor

Officials hope to quell public fear over the news of a doctor who's tested positive for Ebola in New York city. Mayor Bill de Blasio said New Yorkers are safe from Ebola, even though the patient had travelled around the city on subways, taken a taxi and visited a bowling alley before reporting his symptoms.
紐約市一名醫生埃博拉病毒檢測結果為陽性。官員們希望平息公眾的恐懼。市長白思豪(Bill de Blasio)表示，紐約人不會感染埃博拉病毒，盡管病人出現癥狀前曾乘坐地鐵，搭乘出租車并前往一個保齡球度假村。

The patient, 33 year old Craig Spencer, is in an insolation at Bellevue Hospital. Spencer is a physician working for Doctors Without Borders and recently returned to New York after treating Ebola victims in West Africa. Information is being given out to people near Spencer's apartment.

So far nearly 4,900 people, largely in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea have died from the disease.

Two deputies killed, two others hurt in California shooting spree

Two suspects are in custody in California in connection with the deaths of two police officers during a carjacking and shooting spree Friday. Police say the suspects, a man and woman, were both heavily armed.

No. That's not who we are. We are not him. We did our job. I'm incredibly proud of the men, women who go out there every day and put their life on the line."

The incident began Friday morning when the suspects shot and killed an officer in a motel parking lot and then went on a shooting spree that crossed into a neighbouring county.
