1 dead, 13 hurt in Venice Beach lightning strike

Lifeguards rush to help a man struck by lightning at Venice Beach in Los Angeles on Sunday. Officials say a 20-year-old man died and at least 13 others were hurt when the bolt of lightning struck without warning.

Officials say all the victims were in the water or very close to it when the lightning struck. Paul Dionne was bodysurfing when he felt the jolt.

SOUNDBITE: PAUL DIONNE, STRUCK BY LIGHTNING, SAYING: "I was trying to get my head above the water for air." Luckily Dionne recovered and was quickly released from hospital, but the the 20 year old man never regained conciousness. Another person is in critical condition.

But here,worshippers celebrating the end of Ramadan, seemed unconcerned.
