Hope fades as Geneva 2 talks end

On the dusty hills outside Amman, Jordan, a makeshift tent camp teeming with children is void of hope. For the Syrian refugees living there, the Geneva 2 peace talks offers no consolation.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) OPPOSITION'S SYRIAN NATIONAL COALITION SPOKESMAN LOUAY SAFI SAYING: "I am very sorry to say really there is nothing positive we can take. We have been disappointed completely, not only by the regime, but other sponsors so far, particularly the Russians, have not prevailed over the regime, that want to stall. I hope they will do something about it."

Syrian opposition leader visits rebels in Idlib

The Western-backed leader of the Syrian opposition, Ahmad al-Jarba, is paying a visit to rebel fighters in the northern Idlib province. It's his way of showing support for them. In video obtained by Reuters, Jarba spends some time with the rebels before getting into the trenches himself. Jarba was re-elected as the Syrian opposition's leader for a second six-month term in January. He had previously participated in the UN-mediated Geneva peace talks that produced little progress. Though it was agreed that the opposition and government would meet again at a later date. The civil war in Syria is now weeks away from it's three-year anniversary.

South struggles to recover from ice storm

Trees all over South Carolina completely coated in a thick layer of ice. A winter storm that barreled through the South earlier in the week brought down trees knocking out power to hundreds of thousands. Many remain in the dark.
