Demonstration turns violent in Central African Republic
The wounded are rushed to the hospital after violence erupts in the Central African Republic Sunday. The country has descended into chaos since northern Seleka rebels seized Bangui in March, ousting the president and igniting sectarian violence between Muslims and Christians. Residents are blaming fighters from Seleka for the violence.
(SOUNDBITE) (French) RESIDENT OF SICA2 NEIGHBORHOOD, JEAN-MARC, SAYING: "The neighborhood is really disappointed by these actions from Seleka, who since they came to Bangui eight months ago, there have been abuses. They kill people, humans, a person cannot take away life. But you execute, you kill like an animal. How it can be done and the CEMAC (Economic Community of Central African States) countries are here, and they do not take their positions. That is to say the steps to stop it. All they do is talk. Talk in place of passing actions. They are here only for, instead of taking the positions necessary, they don't do it.''

Security official survives bomb attack in Libya
The top security official in Libya's eastern city of Benghazi survives a car bomb attack Monday -- but the attack killed one of his guards.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) GUARD, JUMAA SALEH, SAYING: "We were accompanying the military commander Abdullah al-Suayti and heading towards the military court with him when a car crossed onto our side of incoming traffic and attacked Mr. Abdullah and his guards. The driver left the car before the blast and a guard was martyred."
The attack is the latest in a spate of bomb attacks and assassinations in the city. In the past few days, more than a dozen people have died in Libya's capital city Tripoli as fighting erupted between militias and protesters. The militias blamed for the worst unrest in Tripoli since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi -- began pulling out of the capital Monday as Libyan army units moved in. The withdrawal of the militias may ease tensions temporarily. But Libya's armed forces are still no match for the rival militias who control other parts of Tripoli and the country.
