BlackBerry gets a $4.7b deal

Just when things looked like they were hitting bottom-BlackBerry has a deal. Fairfax Financial- its biggest shareholder- will pay $4.7 billion dollars for the smartphone maker, taking it private. That works out to $9 a share for the Canadian company. Just last week BlackBerry warned it will report a quarterly loss of nearly a billion dollars. Sales will also be much worse than forecasts. BlackBerry is also laying off 4,500 workers- more than a third of its workforce. According to analyst Jack Gold "It could provide them with cover to re-architect the company even more than they are now. Can BlackBerry ultimately survive? That's not as clear. " Shares, which had plunged on Friday, rose on news of the deal.

Egyptian court bans Muslim Brotherhood, seizes funds

It's back underground for the Muslim Brotherhood. An Egyptian court has banned the party from engaging in any activities and has also seized the group's funds. The decision comes after two months of unrest following the overthrow of then-President Mohamed Mursi. So far, some Egyptians are welcoming the court's decision.

The group that sheds the blood of their fellow Egyptians or sheds the blood of anyone must be an illegitimate group and a terrorist group. They killed youths who were in their prime years in Sinai and took Egyptians' money. My opinion is that this is 100 percent a correct decision."

Others, however, are criticizing the court's decision in fear that some Brotherhood members will lose faith in peaceful resistance and take up arms against the government. The Brotherhood won parliamentary and presidential elections after veteran autocrat Hosni Mubarek was overthrown in 2011. Previously, the Brotherhood had been outlawed in the country for much of the group's history.

Pakistanis protest after church attack kills at least 78

Pakistanis take to the streets in protest, enraged over the bloodshed at a 130-year old church where a pair of suicide bombers detonated themselves.

The white color in Pakistan's flag represents the minorities. We demand from the government of Pakistan to protect all the minorities and save the people living in Pakistan from terrorism."

The suicide bombers blew themselves up after Mass Sunday, killing at least 78 people including children, according to the country's Interior Minister.
