Defending France's call for military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault told the French parliament failure to act would send the wrong message to Iran over its nuclear ambitions.
支持對敘利亞總統阿薩德動武，法國總理埃羅(Jean-Marc Ayrault)告訴法國議會，不對敘利亞采取行動將會向伊朗的核野心傳達錯誤的信息。

I ask the question, what credibility would our international commitments against non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction including nuclear weapons stand for. What message would this send to other regimes, and I am thinking like you of Iran,"

After British Prime Minister David Cameron failed last week to win parliamentary backing for military strikes, France is the only major military power lining up behind U.S. President Barack Obama, who is seeking Congress backing for acting. Under the French constitution, President Francois Hollande does not need approval for action, although he is increasingly coming under pressure from opposition lawmakers to hold one.

No pause for debate in Syria as rebel fighters take aim at government troops in Damascus. The video which can not be independently verified by Reuters comes as Syria is the focus of international debate. Washington and Syria's main backer Russia remain publicly at odds over U.S. plans for a possible military strike. But both raised the prospect of easing the deadlock when President Vladimir Putin hosts world leaders at a G20 summit Thursday. On Wednesday a key Senate panel voted in support of military action, as the issue makes its way through Congress. Across the country the flames of war mark Syria. More than two million people have fled the violence which has already claimed the lives of more than 100,000 people.

Invitation fuels Apple deal rumors

Apple will hold a press event in China just hours after a big media event in the U.S. on Tuesday. These reports by Chinese media have stirred speculation that Apple just might announce a long-awaited deal with the world's largest mobile phone company that has yet to carry Apple, China Mobile. Just last month, Apple CEO Tim Cook had met with China Mobile's chairman over the possibility of selling an iPhone. Apple could use a boost in the world's largest cell phone market. Research firm Canalys says Apple slipped to seventh last quarter in smartphone sales in China. Some analysts say a China deal is possible but that it's more likely Apple will use the event to launch a new product. Apple traded higher on the news, adding to its 23 percent rally since June. News of the China event comes a day after Apple officially invited the media to its headquarters,where it's expected to unveil two iPhones: its latest high-end phone, and a cheaper one in an array of colors that may have been hinted at by the invitation, which features bubbles in a pallet of colors. That low-cost phone, if true, could be aimed at emerging markets like China.
