一.pain：n.痛苦, 疼痛, 辛苦, 煩人之人或事 v.使 ... 痛苦, 痛苦, 疼
【語法用法】
表示“痛”的時候可用pain，a pain和pains來表示。
I have pain(s)/a pain in the stomach.
一般情況下，pain大多是作不可數名詞，但是在表示“痛的大叫”時，常用單數來表示，用pain。若是表示身體的某個部分的疼痛時，pain多作可數名詞，且常與介詞in連用；
表示“努力”或“辛勞”時，常以復數形式pains來表示，不過不一定當做復數。
Great pains have been taken with her education.
她在教育上作了很大的努力。
in pain表示“在苦惱中”，屬于固定搭配詞組；
at pains表示“盡力，用心”，后一般接不定式或that從句。而take pains表示“盡力，煞費苦心”，后一般接不定式或in和動名詞或with和名詞。
I have been at some pains to secure the best available texts.
He was at pains that people should not misunderstand him.
They are taking great pains to master English.
They are taking great pains in studying English.
pained，表示“痛苦的”，如a pained look（一個痛苦的表情），現在基本上表示精神上的痛苦，較少指肉體上的痛苦。

錯句: The pleasure of the seaside soon made me forget the pain on my finger.
訂正: The pleasure of the seaside soon made me forget the pain in my finger.
翻譯: 海邊的樂趣使得我很快忘記了手指的疼痛。

【詞義辨析】
ache, pain, sore
這些名詞均含有“疼、疼痛”之意。
ache指人體某一器官較持久的疼痛，常常是隱痛。
pain可與ache換用，但pain既可指一般疼痛，也可指劇痛，疼痛范圍可以是局部或全身，時間可長可短。也可引申指精神上的痛苦。
sore指身體某部位的痛處，有是也指精神上的痛苦。

【詞義辨析】
situate, lie, stand
這些動詞均含“位于”之意。
situate通常用過去分詞作表語，指某城鎮、鄉村或某物等的地理位置與環境的關系，即在何處。
lie最常用詞，指國家、城鎮、道路、湖海等所處的位置。
stand多指建筑物等被擬人化之物立于某處。

He kicked the ball to the stand.
