Armed man forces his way into Dutch broadcaster

A 19-year-old Dutchman carrying a pistol forced his way into a studio of the country's national broadcaster on Thursday night. NOS recorded him pacing around the room, before he was arrested by police. One correspondent at the tv station described what happened.

(SOUNDBITE) (Dutch) NOS CORRESPONDENT, MARTIJN BING, SAYING: "Just before the broadcast of eight o'clock, a man walked into the newsroom, he was armed, I don't know if it was a real gun, he wanted to go on air, so we directed him to a studio that was not used at the time, and after that we warned the police, and now the whole building has been evacuated."

It's unclear what the gunman's motive was. Authorities say he appeared to have acted alone, and could be charged with kidnapping, firearm possession and threatening people with a weapon.

The search for victims continues in this mangled heap of metal and concrete --- that was until Thursday morning, a maternity hospital in Mexico city A gas truck explosion destroyed large parts of the hospital injuring 66 people. Early reports said seven people had died, but Mexico City officials revised the death toll from the blast to two - one woman and one infant. Mexico City's health secretary Armando Ahued.

Two people have died, a 25-year-old woman who has already been transferred to the morgue and a newborn baby who was approximately two to three weeks old."

Officials estimate around a 100 people were at the hospital at the time of the explosion. The blast is believed to be caused by a leak in a pipe from the truck that was filling the hospital's tanks with fuel. Authorities said three people have been detained for their roles in the explosion. Many areas of the Mexican capital have no main gas supply, and rely on deliveries of gas from trucks -- like the one that destroyed this hospital.

Gas explosion at Mexico maternity hospital kills at least seven

Emergency crews in Mexico City examine the mangled rubble of a maternity hospital after a massive gas explosion. It happened in the west of the city, after a leak from a gas truck ignited, destroying a large part of the hospital, and leaving at least seven people dead, including three children. Amazingly, several babies were found alive from under the concrete and twisted metal.

The city's mayor says dozens of women and children were evacuated from the site, some with cuts from broken glass. President Enrique Pena Nieto voiced his sadness and solidarity with the families of the victims, via Twitter. Many areas of the Mexican capital have no main gas supply, and rely on deliveries of gas from trucks -- trucks like the one that exploded and brought down the hospital.
