White House gets second layer of fencing after security breach

Visitors outside the White House will notice a second, waist-high temporary fence along a part of the presidential grounds. It's designed to keep tourists and passersby, like them, farther away. This, after a fence jumper got into the executive mansion on Friday. Visitors outside the White House welcomed the added security measure.
白宮外的游客們會注意到總統官邸部分區域外設立了第二層齊腰高的臨時圍欄 。目的是讓游客和過路者遠離 。這些圍欄是在周五一名跳躍圍欄者進入行政大廈之后 。白宮外的游客們都對新增的安全措施表示歡迎 。

Forty-two-year-old Iraq war veteran Omar Gonzalez allegedly scaled the permanent White House fence, ran across the White House lawn and entered the building through an open door. This mug shot is from an unrelated arrest in Virginia in July. Gonzalez was subdued by the Secret Service, and he's now charged with unlawful entry.

This side of the White House, which is closed to car traffic, is a favorite site for tourists as well as protesters. The Secret Service is now considering ways to expand the security zone around the White House…reviewing how to keep the public farther away and even to do more screening of people approaching the grounds.

At a Moscow airport, these Crimean citizens are preparing to make the pilgrimage to Mecca. They say they're excited to attend the Haj, which all Muslims are required to do at least once in their life under Islamic Law.

Today's trip comes courtesy of Russia, which annexed Crimea earlier this year, and worked to make the necessary travel documents available. Moscow is also subsidizing the cost of the trip, a fact not lost on many of these pilgrims.

Moscow also arranged for 150 pilgrims to fly via charter to Saudi Arabia --- a gesture which will likely build good will among Crimea's large Muslim community. Muslims make up the second largest religious group in Crimea, Millions of pilgrims from around the world are expected to travel to Saudi Arabia for Haj, one of the world's biggest religious gatherings, which will start in the beginning of October.

Australia police kill "terror suspect" after two officers stabbed

Australian police are on high alert in Victoria State. Officers had asked an 18-year-old man to come to this Melbourne police station because his behaviour was "causing concern".

Police say the man had been displaying a flag linked to the militant group Islamic State at a local shopping mall. Officials here have been expressing increasing concern over the the impact of Australians fighting with Islamist groups in the Middle East on domestic security.
