Ferrari's 38 million dollar price tag sets car auction record
The car that set a new world record at auction - a red 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO Berlinetta. At a selling price of $38.1 million U.S. dollars, the Ferrari beat the $30 million paid in 2013 for a 1954 Mercedes Benz. Bonhams auction house says it's the world's longest single-ownership for this model Ferrari, held by one family for 49 years. In 1962 the almost-new Berlinetta crashed during a race near Paris, killing its French driver, Henri Oreiller. The car was repaired by Ferrari in Italy and sold the following year. Then in 1965, Fabrizio Violati, the son of a wealthy Italian family, bought the car, saving it from scrap and hid it from his parents. Bonhams says Violati drove the Ferrari in classic car and historic racing events for almost 40 years until his death in 2010.

WikiLeaks founder Assange to leave embassy "soon" citing health
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange says he'll soon leave the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he's spent the last two years to avoid extradition to Sweden. He's wanted there on charges of sexual assault and rape, allegations he strongly denies. Speaking at a news conference, Assange said his time holed up in the embassy has hurt his health but didn't specify how.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) WIKILEAKS FOUNDER, JULIAN ASSANGE, SAYING: (CONTINUES OVER SPANISH TRANSLATION) "As you can imagine, being detained in various ways in this country without charge for four years, and in this embassy for two years which has no outside area, and therefore no sunlight…it is an environment in which any healthy person would find themselves soon enough in difficulties."
Assange has breached his bail terms in the UK so if and when he does step outside the embassy, he faces immediate arrest. He says he plans to end his stay at the embassy imminently, but has no intention of handing himself over to the police, according to a spokeswoman. The 43-year-old Australian says he's worried that - if extradited to Sweden - he'll also be extradited in turn to the United States. Where as the founder of Wikileaks, he could be tried for his role in one of the largest information leaks in U.S. history.

No sign of Gaza breakthrough as ceasefire nears end
Sunrise near the Israeli-Gaza border. The last day of a five-day truce between Israel and the Palestinians after weeks of hostilities that have left more than 2,000 people dead. The ceasefire between Israel and Islamist Hamas, brokered by Egypt, ends at midnight local time -- but in Cairo there's no sign of a breakthrough. With time running out, both sides are entrenched in their demands. In this area of Gaza that saw heavy fighting, some residents just want the chance to rebuild their homes.

Among other things, Hamas wants the reconstruction of a Gaza sea port and the reopening of an airport destroyed in previous conflicts. But Israel says those matters should be dealt with at a later stage; Israel's security issues are the bigger priority, it says. Israel wants Hamas to disarm but Hamas says laying down its weapons is just not an option. Meanwhile, a Palestinian official says Israel's position in the talks has only toughened. And Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Hamas faces "harsh strikes" if its attacks on Israel resume.
