Typhoon hits Taiwan, 47 people killed in plane crash

These streets tell the story of Typhoon Matmo. The category two storm slammed into Taiwan, Wednesday, with heavy rains and 90 mph (miles per hour) winds. At least one person was killed. And residents were left shaken by the storm's fury:

During a thunderstorm off the west coast, a TransAsia Airways plane crashed on its second attempt at landing. Forty-seven people were killed, and 11 others were taken to a hospital for their injuries. Typhoon Matmo downgraded to a tropical storm as it headed to China.

They gather in the Netherlands to mourn the loss of those who died on Malaysia Airlines flight MH17. Bells peal and flags fly at half mast in memory of the 298 people killed. They observe a moment of silence in the first national day of mourning since wartime Queen Wilhelmina died in 1962. With 193 of the dead from the Netherlands, many knew someone who died.

People line the streets to pay their respect. At a church service in Amersfoort the sound of music amid grief. The Dutch Prime Minister said Tuesday that the disaster has fundamentally changed the way the Dutch view Russia, urging the European Union to unite behind a firm approach to force Moscow to cooperate with the investigation.

Inside is dark, but their mission is clear. Israel says it's committed to removing hidden tunnels used by Hamas fighters in Gaza, and destroying the militants' missile stockpiles. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, meanwhile, is in the region, pressing for a ceasefire... meeting separately with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

With minimal belongings, thousands continue to flee their homes in Gaza - seeking shelter in other parts of the impoverished enclave. And in the West Bank, Palestinians are sending a clear message to the United Nations -- the death toll is rising.
