Lightning kills three in Argentina
阿根廷沙灘閃電致3人死亡
What should have been a day of harmless enjoyment on this beach in Argentina turned in a split second to horror. A bolt of lightning struck without warning. In an instant three people lay dead. Fifteen more have been injured.

(SOUNDBITE)(Spanish) UNIDENTIFIED WITNESS SAYING: "It happened in seconds. The lightning hit and then there were people lying all over the beach. We ran with my father to help but it was ugly because they were all screaming and no-one really knew what to do. We did the best we could."

The lightning bolt hit holidaymakers at Villa Gesell beach south of Buenos Aires on Sunday. The dead were two men and a woman.

The Indian diplomat whose arrest and strip search in the U.S. sparked a major rift between the two countries has been formally indicted. Devyani Khobragade's accused of visa fraud and lying about underpaying a domestic worker. At the same time she was given diplomatic immunity and told to leave the country. India's foreign ministry says she's been given a new job back home.

SOUNDBITE (English) SPOKESPERSON OF INDIA'S FOREIGN MINISTRY, SYED AKBARUDDIN, SAYING: "The U.S government requested the Government of India to waive the immunity of counsellor (Devyani) Khobragade. On 9th January 2014, the Government of India declined to do so and transferred counsellor Khobragade to the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi. She has since departed for home."

Khobragade was deputy consul-general in New York when she was arrested in December. The incident ignited a series of protests in India. The U.S. request for her to leave the country appeared to be part of a deal to ease the resulting diplomatic crisis.

A lull in violence on the streets in Central African Republic as troops patrol neighborhoods to stave off inter-religious fighting. French and African troops are struggling to stop tit-for-tat violence between Muslim Seleka rebels and Christian militias. The fighting has left more than 1,000 dead and displaced hundreds of thousands.
