New York train derails, killing four and injuring 63
紐約列車脫軌 致4死63傷
At least four people are dead and more than 60 injured after a suburban train derailed in the Bronx borough of New York Sunday morning. Metro North officials say at least five of the seven cars slid off the tracks... with one rail car lying toppled near the Hudson River. Resident Ben Sherman woke up hearing the crash.

I jumped out of bed and I looked out my window and I saw one of the trains on it's side and one of the trains sort of teetering and smoke coming out from between the two cars... billowing out. I actually thought it was going to catch fire."

New York Fire Department Chief Ed Kilduff said police and rescue workers are searching the waterway and shoreline for the walking wounded.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW YORK FIRE DEPARTMENT CHIEF ED KILDUFF SAYING: "We had to use air bags under the train to remove some of the critically injured. We had to cut some of the people within the train that were slightly entangled within the train itself to get them out."

Governor Andrew Cuomo says the victims are in his thoughts.

Fire department officials say 11 of the injured are in critical condition, six in serious condition and the rest of the wounded sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Yanukovich calls for peaceful rallies

After a weekend marked by violent protests and a police crackdown, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich is calling for peaceful protests.

It is important that these rallies have a peaceful character. In such cases it's important, of course, when we say we are building a democratic government, a democratic community that all participants follow the law."

The United States along with other countries is condemning the violence as Ukraine faces its biggest demonstrations since the "Orange Revolution" nine years ago. Now opposition leaders are denouncing the government for walking away from a pact offered by the European Union and swinging trade policy back toward Russia.

House explodes in Texas

Investigators search through the debris of a house that exploded in Johnson County, Texas. Authorities said a 62-year-old woman was killed in the blast which took place on Saturday night. Wanda Davis lived at the house with her husband who reportedly was out of town. On Sunday, Johnson County Sheriff Bob Alford spoke to reporters at the scene.
