一.collect:v.收集, 聚集, 募捐, 運走, 使（自己）鎮定 adj.接收者付費的 n.（英國國教或天主教的）短祈禱文
【語法用法】
collect屬于不及物動詞，常用于收“捐款，稅或是賬”，不過“收賬”只在美國常用；
在美國的商業用語中，collect還可作副詞或形容詞，表示“貨到收款”。
The goods will be sent collect.
這個商品將根據貨到收款來發送。
They sent us a collect message.
他們給我們傳了封收到后付款的電報。
collect已經有“聚集，集合”的意思，所以不與together連用，沒有collect together的格式。
【詞義辨析】
accumulate, amass, collect, gather, heap, pile
這些動詞均含“積聚，聚集，積累”之意。
accumulate幾乎可用于指任何事物量的增加，側重連續不斷地，一點一滴地聚積。
amass著重大量地積聚，尤指對如金錢、珠寶等有價值東西的大量積聚。
collect普通用詞，多用于指物，側重指有區別地作選擇或有安排有計劃地把零散物集中起來。
gather普通用詞，指人或物或抽象事物都可用。側重于圍繞一個中心的集合、聚集。
heap主要指把沙、石、煤、草等堆高，不強調整齊。
pile著重指比較整齊地把東西堆積在一起。
【例句用法】
I tried to collect my thoughts but I was too excited.
我試圖使思想集中起來，但是我太激動了。
We are collecting money for the famine victim.
我們在為遭受饑荒的災民募捐。
二.arrange:vt.整理, 安排, 計劃, 改編(樂曲) vi.協商, 計劃
【語法用法】
arrange后可直接跟事類名詞，如arrange a picnic；
arrange for sb/sth to do sth意為“安排某人或某物去做某事”，如arrange for a new classroom；
arrange with sb to do sth指安排某人做某事時，可以是位于主語上的人自己做，也可以是兩人一起做，因而這種用法必須謹慎使用，避免產生誤解；
arrange表示“安排”時，后可跟that從句，從句用shall或should，也可用虛擬現在式。
We have arranged that he shall/should start work next Monday.
我們安排他下周一開始工作。
【錯句舉例與錯句分析】
錯句: I've arranged a taxi to pick us up at 10 o'clock.
訂正: I've arranged for a taxi to pick us up at 10 o'clock.
翻譯: 我已經安排好了一輛出租車在十點的時候來接我們。
分析: arrange for sb/sth to do sth意為“安排某人或某物去做某事”，句中要有介詞for。
【詞義辨析】
organize, arrange, classify, sort
這些動詞均含“使有條理、安排”之意。
organize指按計劃或需要把人或物安排組織成一個整體。
arrange指按計劃、秩序、需要和可能等進行安排。
classify指按照事物類型、質量或是否相似進行分類。
sort通常指根據類型或種類分類或整理選擇。
