一.hope:v.希望, 期望, 盼望 n.希望
【詞義辨析】
desire, wish, hope, expect, want, long
這些動詞都有“希望”之意。
desire語氣較正式莊重，著重渴望的力量與熱切，常含有強烈的意圖和目的。
wish語氣較弱，多指難于實現或不可能實現的愿望。
hope指對愿望實現有一定信心的希望。
expect通常指有很大程度的把握，但仍含有預料之意，或預計某事或某行動的發生。
want一般指所想要的東西是切望得到的東西，能彌補實際需要。
long語氣強，指極殷切地盼望著，這種盼望側重于很難或不可能得到的東西。有時也指一般愿望，但含一定感情色彩。
【例句用法】
I hope to announce the winner shortly.
我希望馬上宣布勝利者的名字。
I hope you're ready.
我希望你已經準備好了。
二.remind:vt.使想起, 提醒
【語法用法】
remind有“remind+主語+不定式”的格式，表示提醒某人做某事。
He reminded me to write the letter.
他提醒我寫信。
remind...of...表示“某物或某人使我們想起過去，或是想起忘掉的事情”，of后加名詞或動名詞。
She reminded me of writing the letter.
她使我想起寫過那封信。
The smell of hay always reminds me of our old house in the country.
甘草的味道總是令我想起了我們在鄉村的老房子。
remind的賓語后能接that或how引導的從句。
He reminded me that I ought to do it at once.
他提醒我應該現在就去做這件事。
He reminded me how careful I ought to be in doing it.
他提醒我在做這事的時候應如何小心。
結構A remind B，C指“A在外貌上像C，因此使B見到A就想起C”。這個用法也適用于比喻中。
You remind me Marry.
你和瑪麗很像，見到你讓我想起了她。
He reminded me of a monkey.
他很像猴子，使我見了他就想起猴子。
remind同remember意思不同，remind是“使某人remember（想起）某事或某物”，而remember指“記得，記住”。
【錯句舉例與錯句分析】
錯句: Please remind me of posting the letter.
訂正: Please remind me to post the letter.
翻譯: 請提醒我去寄那封信。
分析: 提醒某人做某事，應用remind sb to do。
【詞義辨析】
memorize, remember, recall, recollect, remind
這些動詞均有“記憶、記住、回憶”之意。
memorize指有意識的下功夫把某事的整個細節都記在腦子里。
remember含義較廣，多指無意識地回憶起往事，也可指通過主觀努力去記憶。
recall比remember文雅，指想方設法回憶已經遺忘之事。
recollect指在記憶中搜索，設法想起一時想不起的事情或人，強調過程。
remind指經某人或某事的提醒而回憶起某件已遺忘之事。
【例句用法】
He reminds me of his brother.
他使我想起了他的弟弟。
Please remind me to write to my mother tomorrow.
請提醒我明天給我母親寫信。
