The man who blew the whistle on mass spying by the U.S. National Security Agency is calling on the public to protect their privacy. Speaking via video link, former NSA contractor Edward Snowden told a packed house at the South by Southwest Interactive Festival to fight against mass surveillance.

He made his way to a parking structure and climbed the roof of a building, threatening to jump. That's when he called a local newsroom from the roof to ask for camera crews.

Boston trolley derails, leaving passengers with minor injuries

Local media say the front of the two-car trolley derailed where two tracks intersect. Emergency crews cleared the area and the cause is under investigation.
