Egypt 'Day of Rage' turns violent, protesters killed

Smoke billowed from the streets of Cairo as the firing of what appeared to be tear gas shots echoed from rooftops. On what supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood have called a "Day of Rage," clashes broke out once again in response to the military's deadly crackdown on the party. Earlier this week, the military killed hundreds and injured thousands who were engaging in sit-ins to protest the removal of President Mohamed Mursi. Witnesses have told Reuters that gunshot and birdshot have been fired in a central square in Cairo. Dozens have reportedly been killed in the latest round of protests. The polarized country is still reeling from Mursi's July 3rd removal. The only break in violence has been for prayer. Worshippers condemned the violence and vowed to continue protesting until the military rule is brought down.

The state has given the military power to use live ammo to protect government and security buildings from protesters.

Panic on the streets --- just moments after an explosion rocked Beirut. The blast, which struck a building complex used by Hezbollah killed 20 people and wounded at least 120. Many found themselves trapped inside heavily damaged buildings near the point of impact and an ominous cloud of smoke could be see above the city skyline. Amateur video shows efforts to put out the blaze and find survivors amid the rubble. The explosion, is believed to have been caused by a car bomb. A Sunni Islamist group calling itself the Brigades of Aisha claimed responsibility for the attack in this video posted to the internet whose content Reuters cannot independently verify. They say they targeted Hezbollah because of the group's support for Syrian President Bashar al Assad. They also warned there would be more attacks.

Great-grandmother accuses San Diego mayor of sexual harrassment

Another woman comes forward - and accuses San Diego Mayor Bob Filner of sexual harassment. Appearing at a news conference with her attorney Gloria Allred, 67-year-old Peggy Shannon claimed she was a victim of sexual advances from the mayor.

I was just not sure how to take this contact, but it was very disturbing to me."Her attorney said Shannon - a great-grandmother who works with senior citizens at City Hall - has not filed a lawsuit yet. The divorced mayor is accused of sexually harassing more than a dozen women. The 70-year-old recently came out of therapy -earlier than expected - and returned to work despite repeated calls for his resignation. Shannon - and other alleged victims-plan to march to San Diego City Hall on Sunday.
