Victory for Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's ruling bloc as it wins a decisive victory in an upper house election Sunday. The vote will cement his grip on power and setting the stage for Japan's first stable government since 2006.
在周日的參院選舉中，日本首相安倍晉三領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的自民黨獲得了決定性的勝利。這次投票結(jié)果將鞏固安倍的權(quán)利，為日本自2006年以來(lái)首個(gè)穩(wěn)定的政府做好準(zhǔn)備。

Voters gave the Prime Minister's Liberal Democratic Party -- a stronger mandate for his "Abenomics" recipe to revive Japan's economy.
投票者們向安倍晉三的自民黨提出了更強(qiáng)烈的要求，希望“安倍經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)”(Abenomics)能夠復(fù)蘇日本的經(jīng)濟(jì)。
JAPAN PRIME MINISTER SHINZO ABE, SAYING: "The economy is improving because of our brand of forward-thinking politics. Employment and wages will rise as the situation improves, Consumption will then rise and companies can invest the money they make. We want to create this positive cycle as soon as possible so that people can feel the effects."

The win is a personal redemption for Abe, who led his LDP to a humiliating defeat in a 2007 upper house poll.

Frantic residents outside a home in Nanyang, China. Above them, a five-year-old boy dangles dangerously from the window - his head the only thing keeping him from a four-storey drop. Rescuers and neighbours set up a bed sheet to try to catch the boy as another team of firefighters broke down the apartment door. Finally, he is freed from the railings and brought to safety. The boy told China's state TV that he climbed up the window cage to look for his mother, who had locked him inside the house alone.

Amateur video out of Syria appears to show what rebel forces say is an attack on a government ammunition storage unit in Damascus. The video, which can not be independently verified shows multiple mortar strikes on the facility, in a largely rebel-held district of Damascus. More footage shows rebels in trenches in a relentless fight. For the past two months,President Bashar -al Assad's forces have been on the offensive after a string of victories. They are trying to cement control of a belt of territory between Damascus and his stronghold on the Mediterranean coast. The country's revolt began with peaceful protests more than two years ago, It has since descended into a civil war that activists say has killed more than 100,000 people.
