World salutes royal baby
英國凱特王妃誕下男嬰 世界各國祝賀
Raising glasses … and guns to Britain's youngest royal. New Zealand gave the infant prince - born to Duke and Duchess of Cambridge William and Kate Monday -- a 21-gun salute. Australians greeted news of the birth with a toast.

The 8 lb 6 oz baby was born at 4:24 pm in a London hospital and is third in line to the throne.

Quake grinds Wellington to a halt

New Zealand's capital bears the scars of a 6.5 magnitude quake. Wellington's harbour appeared to suffer most from the tremor which struck on Sunday (July 21). Parts of the city were still grounded to a halt a day later as safety inspections took place. Prime Minister John Key said building standards should put people at ease.

Sunday's quake was the largest to hit New Zealand since the Canterbury region was devastated in 2011.

Obama wraps up Africa tour

Tanzania gives U.S. President Barack Obama a colourful send off as he wraps up an eight-day tour of Africa on Tuesday. Some see the visit to Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania as an attempt to play catch-up with competitor China in the fast-growing continent. Earlier in the day, Obama and his predecessor George W. Bush commemorated victims of the 1998 bombing at the U.S. embassy in Dar es Salaam. Obama also announced a trade initiative and efforts to stop wildlife trafficking. Meanwhile, First Ladies Michelle Obama and Laura Bush highlighted women's health and welfare at a summit for the first ladies of Africa.

(English) U.S. FIRST LADY MICHELE OBAMA, SAYING: "Women and girls are at the key to our salvation as a civilization and we all have to understand that as we make decisions about investment in health and education." Laura Bush also announced a new initiative to convene first ladies from around the world annually to support their political roles. The unusual Obama-Bush combination spotlights U.S. interest in the continent and the importance of Africa to the legacies of both presidents.
