Death toll rises after China quake

Rows of Red Cross tents are now home to some of the thousands left homeless by a deadly earthquake in southwest China over the weekend. 37 year old Wu Jinping, who's arm was injured in the quake, is living in a tent with 11 other people. We sleep poorly because the air is bad, she said. And we have no idea when we will be able to leave. Saturday's 6.6 magnitude quake shook Sichuan province on Saturday with 208 people reported missing or dead. Nearly 12,000 are reported to have been injured. Landslides and narrows roads are hampering search and rescue efforts. In Lushan, where most of the damage was concentrated, supplies and water are handed out to residents who, for now, have no where else to go.

The remains of a Sichuan province home, destroyed in a 6.6. magnitude earthquake that struck Saturday. A day after the deadly quake, which killed at least 208 people, many in Lushan county say government relief has arrived too slow.

37-YEAR-OLD MOTHER CHENG ZHIRONG SAYING: "I was terrified, so scared. I didn't care if I got crushed, but I couldn't risk my child's life. I am worried now because we don't have a home, we have nothing to eat. What can we do without a home?"
37歲的母親陳值容說：“我很害怕，害怕極了。砸到我無所謂，但不能砸到我的小孩。我現在很擔心，家沒家，糧食沒糧食，沒了家我們還能做什么？”
The quake, which is the worst to hit the region in three years, also injured more than 11,800 people, while the death toll is expected to rise. Around 1,000 people are in serious condition. On Sunday, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang visited some of those being treated for their injuries. Li also praised rescue workers for their efforts in pulling victims from the rubble. The quake hit near the site of a 7.9 magnitude earthquake in 2008 that killed 70,000.

Hundreds of people attend a memorial service at Boston University for one of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing last week. 23 year old Lu Lingzi (loo ling-zuh) had been watching the race near the finish line when one of the deadly bombs exploded. Some of her friends and teachers spoke about her infectious smile and outgoing personality.
