9. It's 6 or 7 miles max.
最多就是六七英哩。
No more than (不會比.... 多) 或是 at most (至多) 這樣的片語平常老美用得很多，但是以我聽老美的講話習(xí)慣，有時候只要在句尾加上一個 maximum (最大值) 或是簡寫 max 就可以取代一長串的 no more than 或是 at most。例如有人問，"How old is she?" (她多大年紀(jì)了？) 假設(shè)她不會超過二十歲這么說吧，你可以回答，"She is no more than 20 years old." 或是 "She is 20 years old at most." 都可以，但是如果你用小笨霖這里提醒你的小技巧，只要說，"She is 20 years old max." 就可以了。
相同的道理，如果你要表達的是，no less than (不少于... ) 或是 at least (至少有...) 這樣的意思的話，可以用 minimum (最小值) 這個字來取代。例如我想知道下場壘球賽我們需要多少人，答案可以是，"We need no less than nine people." "We need at least nine people." 或是 "We need nine people minimum." 這三句話的意思完全一樣，都是說，我們最少需要九個人。
或許你覺得把 No more than 省略成 max 不過節(jié)省 1 秒鐘，但想想如果這輩子你用 max 六百次，你就省下了 "Oh.. You do the math." 總之人生苦短，能節(jié)省一分鐘是一分鐘吧！
