想當年，老鞋中專所學為enviromental protection（環境保護）, 具體的專業是environmental monitoring（環境監測）, 其它的還有環境管理（envirnmental management)，環境生態(environmetnal ecology)等。
Environmental monitoring，是用各種各樣的方法（by various means)，檢測(detect)環境中的污染物質(pollutants)的存在有其數量（existence and quantity)。
Environemtal protection has been a great matter, as environmental pollution lead to more and more disasters.
隨著環境污染帶來越來越多的災難，環保已成為一件大事。
Environmental protection里面，可真有一些熱鬧話題(hot topics)。
It involves the efforts to deal with global warming, which is believed to have resulted from the exhaust of excessive carbon dioxide, and to maintain ecological diversity.
它包括應對全球變暖（人們認為緣自于二氧化碳的過度排放），以及保持生態多樣性。
咬文嚼字（僅供愛好者參考）：
那么environ是什么？沒想過？
-ment這個尾巴是將一個詞變成名詞，如apartment(公寓）。
environ本身是一個動詞“圍繞”，但很少單獨出場。
巧合的是（by accident, it happens that), viron讀起來是不是有點像“圍繞”？如果再把en=in，就成了“圍在里邊”。
寫信的時候，如果隨信有玉照兩張，可能在信末注明Also enclosed are two pictures. 就是說擱在信里面。而其名詞enclosure就是被柵欄等圍起來的一塊地。再升級成專有名詞Enclosure，則是專指英語歷史上有名的“圈地運動”。
