一.remember：v. 記得，想起，記住，回憶，提及
【詞義辨析】
memorize, remember, recall, recollect, remind,
memorize: 指有意識的下功夫把某事的整個細節(jié)都記在腦子里。
remember: 含義較廣，多指無意識地回憶起往事，也可指通過主觀努力去記憶。
recall: 比remember文雅，指想方設(shè)法回憶已經(jīng)遺忘之事。
recollect: 指在記憶中搜索，設(shè)法想起一時想不起的事情或人，強調(diào)過程。
remind: 指經(jīng)某人或某事的提醒而回憶起某件已遺忘之事。
【例句用法】
1.I remember his objecting to the scheme.
我記得他曾經(jīng)反對該計劃。
2.I remember seeing him once.
我記得見過他一次。
3.I'm sorry, I can't remember your name.
對不起，我想不起你的名字了。
4.Please remember me to your family.
請代我問候你的家人。
二.lose：vt. 丟失，失敗，削減，喪生，看不到，虧損，迷失 vi. 失敗，經(jīng)受損失，走慢
【詞義辨析】
lose, miss, misplace,
lose: 最普通用詞，側(cè)重遺失了，難以找回來。
miss: 著重發(fā)覺某人或某物不見的瞬間，也可作思念解。
misplace: 指反映東西放錯或故意放錯地方。
【詞語用法】
lose no time in ...一般表示“趕快去……”，有時也表示“不白費時間在……”。在容易產(chǎn)生歧義的場合應(yīng)避免使用。注意in有時被省略。
I lost no time (in) following up the idea.
我要趕緊跟進這個想法。
lost to...通常作“失去了……”解，不過應(yīng)在容易被誤會的場合避免使用。
The opportunity was lost to him.
他失去了機會。
lose后可跟雙賓語。
His laziness lost him his job.
他的懶惰使他失去了職位。
lose是短暫動詞，所以不可用于完成時態(tài)。
He has lost his pen for a week.
He lost his pen a week ago.
It is a week since he lost his pen.
第一句的表達方式是錯誤的，后面兩句的表達方式是正確的。
lose作“迷路”意時為及物動詞，后面須跟賓語，如lose one's way。
【錯句舉例與錯句分析】
錯句：Traditional open fires are too often inefficient and draughty, losing most of their heat into the surrounding masonry up the chimney.
糾正：Traditional open fires are too often inefficient and draughty, wastefully directing most of their heat into the surrounding masonry up the chimney.
翻譯：傳統(tǒng)的明火經(jīng)常過于通風(fēng)效率低下，大部分的熱量都散發(fā)到周圍的水泥磚石建筑之中白白浪費。
分析：失去的東西意味著無法再找回，可以說火失去熱度，但不能說火失熱給水泥磚石結(jié)構(gòu)。
【例句用法】
1.Such behaviour will lose you everyone's sympathy.
你這種表現(xiàn)大家就不會同情你了。
2.He lost his life in the war.
他在戰(zhàn)爭中喪生。
3.I lost my wallet yesterday.
我昨天丟了錢包。
