Andrew: Hey.
Margaret: Andrew. Why are, why are you panting?
Andrew: Because I've been running.
Margaret: Really. From Alaska?
Andrew: I need to talk to you.
Margaret: Yeah? Well, I don't have time to talk.. I need to catch a 5:45 to Toronto.
Andrew: Margaret.
Margaret: I need the boxes to go out today. I want to make sure everything is...
Andrew: Margaret! Stop talking! Gotta say something.
Margaret: OK.
Andrew: This will just take a sec.
Margaret: Fine. What?
Andrew: Three days ago, I loathed you. I used to dream about you getting hit by a cab. Or poisoned.
Margaret: Oh, that's nice.
Andrew: I told you to stop talking. Then we had our little adventure up in Alaska. And things started to change. Things changed when we kissed. And when you told me about your tattoo. Even when you checked me out when we were naked.
Margaret: Well, l didn't see anything...
Andrew: Yeah, you did. But I didn't realize any of this until I was standing alone. In a barn... wifeless. Now, you can imagine my disappointment when it suddenly dawned on me that the woman I love is about to be kicked out of the country. So, Margaret. Marry me. Because I'd like to date you.
Margaret: Trust me. You don't really want to be with me.
Andrew: Yes, I do.
Margaret: See, the thing is, there is a reason why I've been alone all this time. I'm comfortable that way. And I think it would just be a lot easier if we forgot everything that happened and I just left.
Andrew: You're right. That would be easier.
Margaret: I'm scared.
Andrew: Me, too.
Margaret: Aren't you supposed to get down on your knee or something?
Andrew: I'm gonna take that as a ''yes.''
Andrew一路跑著追趕Margaret，站在她的面前時還在panting。一心打算離開的Margaret不想聽過多解釋，Andrew要求給他just a sec就好。Just a sec是just a second “幾秒鐘就好”的縮略形式。口語中常用。
在接下來的表白里，Andrew同樣使用了先抑后揚的策略，首先說，在前三天，我loathed you. Loathe 厭惡，憎惡，也是比較常用的一個單詞。再比如：I loathe people who spread malicious gossip. 我討厭那些散布充滿惡意的流言蜚語的人。
那么loathe到了什么程度呢？I used to dream about you getting hit by a cab. Or poisoned.
做夢希望你被車撞，被毒死。不過，大家需要注意這句話中used to do的用法。他表示“過去常怎樣，但現在不再”的意思。比如這個例子：I used to go swimming once a week. 我過去一周游一次泳。言外之意是，現在不再繼續這一習慣。電影中描述的也是開始討厭，后來不再討厭對方的情形。
那么，是從什么時候起不再討厭了的呢？Andrew描述了幾個場景。had our little adventure up in Alaska. Have an adventure冒險；Things changed when we kissed. And when you told me about your tattoo. 當我們親吻的時候，當你告訴我你的紋身由來的時候；Even when you checked me out when we were naked. 甚至我們赤身裸體在一起時。這句話中用到了check me out一詞。其實兩個人原本因為意外看到了對方的身體，而且只是匆匆一瞥。但check out有“檢查，仔細核對”的意思。用在這里有逗弄對方還是喜歡自己，愿意看自己的含義在。恩，情境賦予了電影語言不一樣的活力和色彩，大家可以在今后看電影的時候多加揣摩和學習。我們言歸正傳。
Andrew體會到獨自一人的孤獨是站在谷倉里，wifeless的時候。后綴-less表示否定含義，“沒有的”，再比如homeless “無家可歸的”；sleepless “無眠的”等等。希望大家多記一些前后綴，可以很好的幫助大家拓展詞匯量。
在獨自一人的時刻里，在她心愛的女人即將被kick out of，被趕走的事實面前，另一個事實dawn on him. Dawn on 或者dawn up on這個短語意思相當于start to understand, realize，也就是“開始被理解；漸漸明白”。再比如：The truth began dawn on him . 他開始明白了真相。 Something slowly began to dawn on me — I still loved what I did . 漸漸地，我開始有了一個想法—我仍然熱愛我過去做的一切。
在這樣真摯的剖白下，Margaret放下心中的包袱，不好意思的提醒對方Aren't you supposed to get down on your knee or something? 上一期的電影中就有介紹過否定一般疑問句的用法。它一般不表示疑問，有很強烈的感情色彩，常被翻譯為 “難道……”，這里可以翻譯為難道你不打算求婚嗎？suppose to do something 意思等于plan to do “打算做某事”。 Get down on your knee，大家都知道，在西方，男士向女士求婚的時候一般要單膝跪地，所以，現在常用get down on one’s knee來表示propose求婚的意思。
