第一句用來(lái)表示“他不是我社交圈子里的人”，第二句里的barely know指“不太熟的人”。注意這兩種句型，有時(shí)候在中翻英的時(shí)候，我們不一定能想到如此地道的表達(dá)方法。

expect: 料想到，預(yù)料到。特地highlight出來(lái)，是因?yàn)楹芏嗳嗽趯憽跋氲健钡臅r(shí)候，都習(xí)慣用think,其實(shí)很多時(shí)候expect會(huì)更貼切。
give birth to: Marcus不是我生的。懷孕叫做carry a baby, 流產(chǎn)就是miscarry. 預(yù)產(chǎn)期叫做due date, 生孩子就是give birth to a child.
well-being: 幸福
what do you have to say for yourself: 你有什么要說(shuō)的？
well-preserved: 保養(yǎng)的很好

12. -Chuck’s here, and Blair didn’t invite him.
-Maybe he’s her plus-one.

plus-one: your guest when you are invited to an event. 這個(gè)在第1集里面也出現(xiàn)過(guò)，Jenny就是Eric的plus-one, 然后才得以進(jìn)入white party.

13. -But I assure you, there’s an explanation for all of it.
-Save your breath(省省吧), Blair. Chuck didn’t tell me a thing.
-Wait, he didn’t?
-I told him not to bother(不用麻煩了). None of it makes any difference to me(對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)毫無(wú)意義), because nothing will change the fact the despite your best efforts which are completely transparent(顯而易見(jiàn)), by the way, Marcus is never going to end up with a lowly(地位低下的) Waldorf.

make difference: It means to make an important effect on something, especially a good effect. 意思是對(duì)某事產(chǎn)生巨大的影響或者作用，或者也可以表示為意義重大，與眾不同。比如夸一個(gè)新產(chǎn)品如何的標(biāo)新立異，就可以說(shuō)it makes huge difference. 用在否定句里，it doesn’t make any difference, 表示這樣做沒(méi)有必要，沒(méi)有什么差別。
end up: 相當(dāng)于wind up, 注意這里的wind發(fā)I的音，和“風(fēng)”那個(gè)wind發(fā)音不同，這個(gè)詞組表示最后結(jié)局如何，淪落到什么地步，你可以說(shuō)He ends up alone.(他最后孤獨(dú)終老), 以可以說(shuō)Jack ends up in the jail.(Jack最終淪落到蹲監(jiān)獄的地步). end up也可以表示arrive at, 比如說(shuō)After 30 minutes’ driving, we finally ended up at the shopping center.

14. -This party is a complete bust. My whole life is a bust.
-Well, it serves you right. You were scheming to convince Marcus you’re someone you’re not.
-But my intentions were good. I really do like him. I just…as soon as I knew he like me, I would have relaxed and dropped the manipulative plotting and devoted myself to being the best girlfriend ever.

bust: A total failure, a complete waste of time. 另外，在槍戰(zhàn)片里，我們也經(jīng)常能聽(tīng)到got busted，這個(gè)時(shí)候bust指的是police action, or got caught, e.g. Joey got busted for selling drugs to an undercover police.
it serves you right: 給某人應(yīng)得的結(jié)果，可以指生活帶你不薄，也可以指給你應(yīng)得的報(bào)應(yīng)。貶義褒義都可以用。
scheme, manipulative, plot: 這三個(gè)單詞都可以指詭計(jì)多端的，善用心計(jì)的
But my intentions were good: 但我的出發(fā)點(diǎn)是好的。這也是我們口語(yǔ)里經(jīng)常說(shuō)的一句話。
