As far as Northern England’s National Parks are concerned, most visitors tend to head straight for the dramatic Lake District. But venture an hour further east, and you will be richly rewarded by the Yorkshire Dales. Although it lacks some of the Lakes’ intensity, this National Park more than compensates with its laid-back pastoral bliss and picturesque picnic spots.
