一.receive:v.接到, 收到, 接待
【語法用法】
receive與accept的區別:
receive意為“收到”,表示客觀的,accept意為“接受”,表示主觀的。
當accept a gift時,表示接受了禮物,不會再退回,而receive a gift時,只是收到了禮物,可能還會退回。
receive只是一時的動作,因此不能說I have received your letter 3 days.應該改為It is 3 days since I received your letter;
receive from/of的意思是“從某處或某人那收到(款項)”,如received from/of Sam seven pounds;
在英美英語中回信中的第一句話,通常是Your letter of ... received,常省略is,has been。
【錯句舉例與錯句分析】
錯句: All I hope is that you will receive my invation and come here.
訂正: All I hope is that you will accept my invation and come here.
翻譯: 我所希望的是你能接受邀請并過來。
分析: receive invation與accept invation的區別用法,一個是客觀的收到,一個是主觀的接收邀請。

【詞義辨析】
laugh, smile, giggle, grin, beam, sneer
這些動詞均含“笑”之意。
laugh最常用詞,指因喜悅、愉快或輕視而出聲的笑或大笑。
smile指面露微笑,側重于無聲。
giggle指發出咯咯的笑聲,較多地用于女人或孩子。
grin指露齒而笑。
beam書面用詞,指人因心情舒暢而發出的笑,即喜形于色地笑。
sneer指冷笑、嘲笑。
