angle, corner
She'll need luck to get out of a tight corner like that.
By defeating their main competitor this firm has cornered the wheat market.
He fell and hit his head on the corner of a box.
Fairly
“How was the film?”
“Fairly good. Not the best one I’ve seen this year.”
“How was the film?”
“Quite good. You ought to go.”
“How was the film?”
“Rather good. I was surprised.”
“How’s things?”
“Pretty good. You OK?”
可以有“quite right”與“all right”的表達方式。“quite right”指的是all right,而“all right”指的是quite right。偶有人會用“quite all right”,但表示的是all quite wrong。
He lay quitely still until the enemy moved away.
He lay quite still until the enemy moved away.
I was quite pleased.
It was quite wonderful.
He's quite handsome.
He was quite young.
The boy has quite recovered.
