Airbus 320 crashes in southern France, 150 on board feared dead

A passenger plane operated by the budget airline Germanwings has crashed near a ski resort in the French Alps. All 150 people on board are feared dead.
Flight 4U9525 was travelling from the Spanish coastal city of Barcelona to the German city of Dusseldorf when it went down in near Barcelonnette, a town in southeast France. Sources said the plane issued a distress call at 10:47am. It was carrying 144 passengers and six crew.
Germanwings is a low-cost affiliate of the German airline Lufthansa. French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said debris from the plane had been found, and that he was heading to the scene.
French weather reports said conditions were calm at the time of the crash. 45 of the passengers are believed to be Spanish nationals.Many more are thought to be German.
