Western states ask Pentagon, Canada for help battling wildfires
美國西部火災頻繁 向五角大樓加拿大求助
California Governor Jerry Brown has declared a state of emergency near the western edges of Yosemite National Park. That's where the so-called Rim fire has been raging since Saturday. The blaze, which threatens 25-hundred homes, grew by 10,000 acres in just one day, and was only one percent contained by nightfall. It's the fourth-largest and fastest-growing wildfire in the nation, fire officials say. But it's also just one of 50 large wildfires now burning throughout the Western United States. Fire fighting teams are spread so thin that wildfire managers have reached out to the Pentagon, and to Canada, for additional resources.
