Fake meat ring busted

Police in eastern China have broken up a crime ring involving more than 20,000 tonnes of meat- passed off as mutton, but containing everything from fox, to minx to rat. One man charged in the case told local media he obtained the fox meat from a farm that had raised the animals for fur. The farmer sold it to the suspect who then processed it as mutton. It's mutton-like flavor and low cost were part of the draw, he said. Other suspects said rat meat had been used to produce the fake mutton. Police said more than 900 people were arrested during the three month campaign, and nearly 400 cases involving meat-related offenses are being investigated. The fake mutton products garnered about 1.6 million dollars in profit.

A thunderstorm is one possible cause in the crash of this U.S. military refuelling plane in Kyrgyzstan. That's the theory of one Kyrgyz civil aviation official, according to the Interfax news agency. Rescuers on horseback were still searching the mountainous area around for any sign of its three crew. Witnesses said the Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker exploded in mid-air.

CRASH WITNESS SHERKIBEK TURUSBEKOV, SAYING: "I was working in the field and heard the sound of explosions, saw a great fire - that fire fell and broke into three pieces when it hit the ground, all the pieces were falling. Three or four places burned and smoked, and the wing was falling apart."

The aircraft was on its way from Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan when it crashed. The U.S. transit centre said an investigation was underway. The aircraft came down near the village of Chaldovar after vanishing from radar screens mid-afternoon local time.

Three suspects in custody

Police in Ohio now say they have three people in custody in connection with the 10 year kidnapping ordeal of three women in Cleveland.
俄亥俄州警方表示，在克利夫蘭涉及十年綁架并拷打三名女性的三名（嫌疑人）被拘留。
ED TOMBA, DEPUTY CLEVELAND POLICE CHIEF SAYING: "Well there is three in custody, they are all brothers and one of them lived in the house. Well one of them had on his driver's license the Seymour address and the other two had addresses in the lower West side area." One of those rescued was Amanda Berry, seen here in a missing person poster. She was a teenager when she disappeared in 2003 at the age of 16. But on Monday evening a neighbour said he heard screams coming from a house across the street. He kicked in the door and found Amanda. She then called 911.

When police arrived they found two other women who had been missing- one was Gina DeJesus. She disappeared in 2004 when she was 14. The third woman is Michelle Knight who was 20 when she disappeared. The woman were taken to hospital for treatment. Doctors said they all appeared to be in good physical condition. Police say the suspects, aged 50, 52, and 54 were arrested based on information from the three rescued woman.
