'I first saw Gaspard, ' said Jacques Five, 'holding on under the Marquis's coach as it drove into our village.

思想上的人道主義，導(dǎo)致政治上的改良主義。這就是狄更斯反映社會(huì)生活、尋求社會(huì)出路的出發(fā)點(diǎn)和歸宿。狄更斯和19世紀(jì)許多批判現(xiàn)實(shí)主義作家一樣，當(dāng)他用資產(chǎn)階級(jí)人道主義思想武器去揭露和批判反動(dòng)統(tǒng)治階級(jí)罪惡時(shí)，是極為出色的，甚至是偉大的。但當(dāng)他遵循資產(chǎn)階級(jí)人道主義提出改革社會(huì)的方案時(shí)，卻顯得糊涂了。
