2【Bombs tear through Iraq】撕裂伊拉克的炸彈襲擊
TEXT:Multiple attacks tear through Iraq, shattering a two-week lull in violence. A string of bombings across the country have killed nearly 100 people in the last two days. On Monday, twin car bombs exploded in rapid succession and a suicide bomber blew himself up in Taji, a town 20 km north of Baghdad, just before sunrise. In all at least 32 people were killed, including 14 police officers, with dozens wounded. Authorities said the suicide bomber targeted emergency workers helping those wounded in the earlier car bombs. Two other car bombs also struck near a government building in Sadr City, a poor Shi'ite neighbourhood in Baghdad, and in the northern mainly Shi'ite area of Hussainiya, killing in total 16 people and wounding 73. Another blast in the town of Diwaniya killed at least four people near a large market. There were multiple bomb blasts in the northern city of Kirkuk as well. No group has claimed responsibility for the latest wave of attacks but a senior Iraqi security official blamed the local wing of al Qaeda for the upsurge in violence. Sarah Sheffer, Reuters

3【EU foreign ministers to increase pressure on Syria】歐盟外交部長欲對敘利亞加壓
TEXT:European foreign ministers begin arriving in Brussels. At the meeting here in the Belgian capital, they're expected to beef up sanctions against Syria, and tighten the EU's arms embargo on the country. EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton emphasized the need for Bashar al-Assad to go. EU FOREIGN POLICY CHIEF CATHERINE ASHTON SAYING: "We have to continue to be very, very clear in our belief that Assad has to step aside. He needs to now consider the future of the Syrian people and consider how best they can have the kind of future that we believe is right for Syria and that is a future of democracy and freedom." Sweden's foreign minister, Carl Bildt, added that it's also important to start planning for what happens after Assad's fall. SWEDISH FOREIGN MINISTER CARL BILDT SAYING: "The regime will fall. But it will leave Syria in a very difficult situation, so we need to increase the focus on what we can do the day after." The bloc has already imposed sanctions such as asset freezes and travel bans, and an arms embargo on Syria as a nation. The tougher regulations will oblige the 27 member states to inspect and search ships in EU territorial waters and planes at EU airports if they have "reasonable grounds" to suspect they are carrying arms or equipment to be used for repression in Syria. The talks in Belgium come as thousands of Syrians rush to the border with Lebanon, largely fleeing violence in the capital Damascus. According to the United Nations Refugee Agency, up to 30,000 Syrian refugees have crossed into Lebanon over the past week. Travis Brecher, Reuters

TEXT:London's iconic double decker bus is getting into shape for the 2012 games. And when it makes its Olympic debut, it will be sure to have athletes and fans doing a double take. Czech artist David Cerny says his art installation will work out next to his country's Olympic team. David Cerny, artist, saying: "There is one common exercise for every sportsman around the world, and it's push ups, so I thought the push ups would be perfect fun. And the thing about the push ups is also that in one hand, of course, it's training and exercising for sport activities but at the same time it's a punishment in whatever army or probably prisons or whatever. So the push ups are a very universal kind of movement, of proving physical abilities." The 1957 bus was purchased from an owner in the Netherlands. The arms, engine and suspension tools were added later. Weighing in at six tonnes, Cerny hopes this competitor won't burn out before the games are over. Kilmeny Duchardt, Reuters.
