TEXT:U.S. President Barack Obama assured Hispanic Americans Friday that he would champion immigration reform in a second term, contrasting his vision with Republican White House contender Mitt Romney to court voters who could help sway the election on Nov. 6. U.S. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA SAYING: "One of America's greatest strengths has always been our ability to attract talent and hard-working people, who believe in this country and who want to make it strong. Our current immigration system doesn't reflect those values." With more than 50 million people with Latin American roots living in the U.S., they could decisively influence the result in November. Obama alluded to his rival, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who spoke to the group Thursday.U.S. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA SAYING: "Your speaker from yesterday has a different view. In a speech he said that when he makes a promise to you, he'll keep it. Well, he has promised to veto the DREAM Act, and we should take him at his word." TEXT:Global powers convene at the Rio +20 U.N. conference to try to determine a sustainable pathway for global development. A draft text prepared by diplomats this week laid out global aspirations, rather than mandatory goals, on issues like food security, water and energy. The U.N. announced that more than 50 governments have launched new energy strategies while private investors have pledged more than $50 billion to global renewable energy initiatives. Greenpeace activists raised a huge polar bear balloon next to Rio's iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, calling for a U.N. resolution that would establish a global sanctuary in the Arctic, banning oil drilling and unsustainable fishing. Lee Hyun-Jung, saying (Korean): "I've seen it on TV before and in person it even makes electronic sounds - it's amazing." Kim Hye-Su, saying (Korean): "The best was when he made the sound from horror movies, a woman's scream. The bird entertains me a lot and I'll never get bored with him." Lala's trainer Nam Ji-hae says she discovered the bird's talent two years ago. SOUNDBITE: Nam Ji-hae, Lala's trainer, saying (Korean): "I used to play with Lala while whistling. One day, when I took him out of his cage to play with him, he whistled. So I realized he has a great sense of sound," said Nam. The Nobel Laureate - who refers to Myanmar as Burma - spent 15 years under house arrest - before she was released two years ago. Suu Kyi said despite recent political reforms in Myanmar - more needs to be done. Earlier in the day - British Prime Minister David Cameron offered his support and said Myanmar's President Thein Sein would travel to London for talks on reform. BRITISH PRIME MINISTER DAVID CAMERON, SAYING: "Britain will remain staunch in its support, just as we have been during the long period of darkness through which you and your people have lived through." Suu Kyi - who was sworn into Myanmar's parliament last month - said she supported the visit. During her day in London, the 67-year-old also met with Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.
