TEXT:Rescued from a life of labour in harsh conditions. Over 100 children were freed when police raided textiles factories near Mumbai in western India. There are an estimated 60 million child labourers in India, driven into work by poverty. CHIEF OF RESCUE OPERATION (PROGRAM HEAD) OF PRATHAM NGO, NAVNATH KAMBLE, SAYING: "It's a crime to make children work under force, and we came to know that the factory owners were not letting them go home after toiling for the whole day at work. We complained to the labour department that nearly 500 - 600 children were working under pressure and should be rescued." Although child labour is illegal in India, many children as young as five work 14 hours a day. 25 people were arrested in the raid, including a factory owner. Lily Grimes, Reuters

Now the UN is suspending its operations. General Robert Mood is the head of the UN mission in Syria. GENERAL ROBERT MOOD, HEAD OF U.N. OBSERVER MISSION IN SYRIA, SAYING: "In this high risk situation, UNSMIS is suspending its operations. U.N. observers will not be conducting patrols and will stay in their locations until further notice. While the suspension will be reviewed on a daily basis there are no signs of a let up to the violence. Hundreds of people, including civilians, rebels and government forces, have been killed in the two months since a UN-backed ceasefire was launched that never took hold. Activists say that at least 22 civilians were killed on Saturday alone. The U.S. State Department said Saturday that the sooner a political transition occurs in Syria the higher the odds of preventing a long and bloody civil war. Deborah Lutterbeck, Reuters

BRIEF:U.S. President Barack Obama was interrupted Friday, while delivering remarks about a change in U.S. immigration policy at the White House Rose Garden. About 800,000 young illegal immigrants who came to the United States as children could be spared deportation under new immigration rules announced by Obama that may appeal to Hispanic voters in an election year. While delivering the remarks, a man in the media gallery attempted to interrupt the President and ask questions. Media reports identified the man as Neil Munro of the Daily Caller website.
