TEXT:Ivory Coast appeared to be recovering after last year's brief resurgence of civil war that followed its 2010 election. An ambush on Friday that's killed seven U.N peacekeeping troops from Niger is being condemned by U.N chief Ban Ki-moon. It wasn't immediately clear who was behind the attack. SOUNDBITE: BAN KI-MOON, UNITED NATIONS SECRETARY GENERAL, SAYING (English): "I am saddened and outraged. These brave soldiers died in the service of peace. I condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms. My heart goes out to the families at this difficult time and I express my deepest condolences to the government of Niger for this tragedy." The new bout of civil war erupted last year when President Laurent Gbagbo refused to step down after losing the 2010 election to Alassane Ouattara. He was defeated by French and U.N.-backed local forces who supported Outtara. New York-based Human Rights Watch has warned of attacks from Liberia by mercenaries and Ivorians who fought for Gbago. The decision required are tough but Europe has the capacity to make them. And they have America's support." While Obama said he had not intention of scolding Europe, he is pushing U.S. lawmakers for action. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA, SAYING: "Given the signs of weakness in the world economy. Not just in Europe, but some softening in Asia, it is critical that we take the actions that we can to strengthen the US economy right now." Obama is locked in a tight race for the White House with Republican rival Mitt Romney, who wants to make the election a referendum on the president's handling of the economy as he touts his own credentials as a successful businessman. TEXT:Remember Paul, the legendary octopus who correctly predicted the outcome of the 2010 World Cup? Two years later in Kiev, a psychic pig takes over where Paul the Octopus has left off. Khryak is the latest addition to the Ukrainian squad to tip the winners of the Euro 2012 matches. Although not the most photogenic among the psychic, organizers say his telepathic abilities are real. Kiev Euro 2012 PR Director, Official Kiev Euro 2012 Fan Zone Pr Director Svitlana Bovkun, saying (Russian) "We checked over two weeks his ability to predict outcomes of local and international matches and well… he has a psychic ability, we would not have taken him otherwise. We'll see how accurate he is in just a few days." Khryak's powers will be officially tested on June 8th when the European soccer championships kick off in Poland and Ukraine. And even if Khryak miss-sniffs the winner of a match, organizers promise that he'll be safe from the butcher's knife. Elly Park, Reuters.
