【語法用法】
通常來說recording=record，都可以解釋為“錄音，被錄的音或唱片，錄制品”，但是有時(shí)候雖然指同一樣?xùn)|西，著重點(diǎn)不同。recording著重在“音”，record著重在“唱片或錄制品”。
The author has most usefully provided recordings of the lessons.
She keeps all her old gramophone records in her box.
表示某人錄制的唱片時(shí)，用spoken，如a record spoken by Mary。
【錯(cuò)句舉例與錯(cuò)句分析】
錯(cuò)句: Only five or six records of them being seen in the country in February exist.
訂正: Only five or six records of their being see in the country in February exist.
翻譯: 只五或六個(gè)它們國家2月狀況的，已被發(fā)現(xiàn)的記錄。
分析: 注意record的用法。

【詞義辨析】
surprise, amaze, astonish, astound, startle, stun
這些動(dòng)詞均含“使驚愕，使驚訝，使驚奇”之意。
surprise普通用詞，多指因未預(yù)料或意外的事而引起的驚奇之感。
amaze語氣較強(qiáng)，指因認(rèn)為不可能或極少可能發(fā)生情況的出現(xiàn)而感到驚訝或迷惑不解。
astonish語氣較強(qiáng)，指出乎預(yù)料，意外發(fā)生，但又無法解釋而感到驚奇。
astound語氣強(qiáng)，指由于事情令人難以置信或?qū)嵲诤币姸谷烁械秸痼@。
startle指因突然的驚嚇或意料不到的刺激等而使人驚跳或震驚。
stun語氣最強(qiáng)，指極度驚訝而目瞪口呆，不知所措。
【例句用法】
By firing a few shots we can surprise them into revealing their positions.

The news greatly surprised them.
