Frank: Have you seen any of Mozart's operas?
弗蘭克：你看過莫扎特的歌劇嗎？
Lu: Mozart? Do you mean the world renowned musician? What has he to do with opera?
陸：莫扎特？你說的是那個世界著名的音樂家吧？他怎么跟歌劇扯上關系了？
Frank: He was a composer. In fact he produced over 20 Italian operas, Magic Flute, and The Marriage of Figaro and so on.
弗蘭克：他是個作曲家啊。事實上他創作了20多部意大利歌劇，《魔笛》《費加羅的婚禮》等等。
Lu: Oh, my goodness! Forgive my ignorance. I've always subconsciously associated opera with playwrights in my mind.
陸：天哪，請原諒我的無知。說到歌劇我總是潛意識地和劇作家聯系起來。
Frank: The English drama is very different from Italian opera, although both are art forms of the stage.
弗蘭克：英國戲劇與意大利歌劇差別很大，雖然這兩者都是舞臺表演藝術。
Lu: So what's the difference?
陸：那這兩者的區別是什么？
Frank: The most obvious difference is that British drama is combined with music and dance, while Italian opera is sung throughout.
弗蘭克：最明顯的區別就是英國戲劇結合了音樂和舞蹈，但意大利歌劇卻是從頭唱到尾。
Lu: So that's why Italian opera is produced by composers while English drama is written by playwrights?
陸：這就是為什么意大利歌劇是由作曲家創作的，而英國戲劇是劇作家寫成的？
Frank: Right.
弗蘭克：正是如此。
