To my fellow citizens, thank you for the concerted effort from the whole of Singapore. More than 20,000 have volunteered their services directly to the Games, and many thousands more have offered their support in many other ways. I call upon all Singaporeans to be gracious hosts and to create a meaningful and memorable experience for our all guests.

感謝新加坡人民的理解和努力！超過20000名志愿者為運動會工作，眾多的市民以不同的方式支持青奧會的舉辦。我號召全體新加坡人民禮貌待客，為我們的客人和觀眾帶來一次意義非凡、無法忘懷的經歷。

Friends from all over the world, just 5 days ago on August 9th, Singapore celebrated the 45th Anniversary of her Independence. In the course of our history, we have come through many trials and tribulations, growing from a small fishing village 200 years ago to the Singapore of today. We are proud of our country and what we have achieved together. There are so many things to do, to see and to explore in Singapore. To our overseas guests I wish you a pleasant and memorable stay.

全世界的朋友們，5天前，8月9日，新加坡剛剛渡過了第45個國慶日。在國家歷程中，我們經歷了無數考驗的苦難，從200多年前的一個小漁村成長為今時今日的獨立國家。我們為祖國自豪，為我們獨立之后取得的成就自豪。新加坡有眾多事務值得去發現，去體驗。愿來自海外的游客們留下難忘的回憶。
