Jaime descended the steps, past a dozen startled sellswords.

Vargo Hoat had taken the lord's box in the lowest tier.

"Lord Vargo," he called over the shouts.

The Qohorik almost spilt his wine.

The left side of his face was bandaged clumsily, the linen over his ear spotted with blood.

He waved a wine cup.

A roar turned Jaime back around.

Bellowing in fury, the bear showed a mouth full of great yellow teeth, then fell back to all fours and went straight at Brienne.

There's your chance, Jaime thought.
機(jī)會(huì)來(lái)了，詹姆暗想，

Instead, she poked out ineffectually with the point of her blade.
可她一劍遞出，竟然毫無(wú)力氣。
The bear recoiled, then came on, rumbling.
黑熊畏縮了一下，接著又猛撲而上，腳掌拍打地面，隆隆作響。
Brienne slid to her left and poked again at the bear's face.
布蕾妮閃向左，再度朝熊臉刺去。
This time he lifted a paw to swat the sword aside.
這一擊被熊掌掃開(kāi)。
He's wary, Jaime realized.
它很小心，詹姆看出，
He's gone up against other men.
它被人類作弄過(guò)，
He knows swords and spears can hurt him.
知道長(zhǎng)劍和槍矛的厲害。
But that won't keep him off her long.

"Kill him!"

he shouted, but his voice was lost amongst all the other shouts.

If Brienne heard, she gave no sign.

She moved around the pit, keeping the wall at her back.

If the bear pins her by the wall…

The beast turned clumsily, too far and too fast.

Quick as a cat, Brienne changed direction.

She leapt in to land a cut across the bear's back.

Roaring, the beast went up on his hind legs again.
野獸痛苦地咆哮，再度人立。
Brienne scrambled back away.
布蕾妮慌忙躲開(kāi)。
Where's the blood?
怎不見(jiàn)血？…
Then suddenly he understood.
他終于明白了，
Jaime rounded on Hoat.
回頭怒視山羊，
"You gave her a tourney sword."
“你把比武用的鈍劍給了她！”
The goat brayed laughter, spraying him with wine and spittle.
山羊眉開(kāi)眼笑，酒水和唾沫噴了詹姆一臉，
"of course."
“當(dāng)然。”
"I'll pay her bloody ransom.
“他媽的，我來(lái)付贖金，
Gold, sapphires, whatever you want.
金子，藍(lán)寶石，想要什么都成。
Pull her out of there."
快把她拉出來(lái)！”
"You want her?

Go get her."
去拉呀。”
So he did.
他去了。
He put his good hand on the marble rail and vaulted over, rolling as he hit the sand.
詹姆左手抓住大理石欄桿，一躍而下，在流沙上著地打滾。
The bear turned at the thump, sniffing, watching this new intruder warily.
黑熊聽(tīng)見(jiàn)聲音，陡然轉(zhuǎn)身，用鼻子嗅嗅，警戒地打量著新闖入者。
Jaime scrambled to one knee.
詹姆掙扎著單腿跪起。
Well, what in seven hells do I do now?
七層地獄，我到底在干什么？
He filled his fist with sand.
他用左手抓滿一把流沙。
"Kingslayer?" he heard Brienne say, astonished.
“弒君者？”他聽(tīng)見(jiàn)布蕾妮驚訝的喊聲。
"Jaime."
“詹姆。”
He uncoiled, flinging the sand at the bear's face.
他糾正，一邊將沙子投向黑熊的臉。
The bear mauled the air and roared like blazes.
野獸胡亂抓著空氣，發(fā)出驚天動(dòng)地的咆哮。
"What are you doing here?"
“你來(lái)干嗎？”
"Something stupid.
“做蠢事。
Get behind me."
到我后面去。”
He circled toward her, putting himself between Brienne and the bear.
他繞到她前面，擋在她和黑熊之間。
