“Margot’s as light as a feather,” Philip insisted, “and the parade will be short because of the little children who are marching.”

On the day of the parade the boys went about noon to old Tim, the florist, to get some flowers ordered by Philip’s mother for a finishing touch.

They were telling old Tim about the sedan chair when a man came in with several pieces of lattice around which a green smilax vine was twined.

“I’ll tell you what, boys,” said Old Tim;

You may take it off and fasten it over the chair with brads.

It will be sure to stay fresh until after the parade.”

They hurried home with the flowers and trailing bunches of smilax.

There were hammering sounds out in the garage until it was time to dress for the parade.
