Ivan Learns To Drive His Reindeer

Ivan is a little boy who lives in Lapland, the country of ice and snow.
有個小男孩叫伊萬，他生活在拉普蘭，那里是冰雪之鄉。
Lapland winters are very long, and for many days the sun does not even show its face.
拉普蘭的冬天非常漫長，許多天都看不到太陽。
But at night the moon shines far more brightly than it does in our land.

Ivan does not feel the cold in his country, because he is dressed from head to foot in warm reindeer fur.

His mother and father and brothers and sisters are all dressed in the same way.

One day Ivan's father made a small sled, and Ivan helped him; for in Lapland all boys learn to do some work when they are very young.

The sled was pointed at the front, so that it could go through the snow quickly, and it had a place at the back for someone to sit in.

When the sled was finished, Ivan's father gave the boy a rope and said, "Go and get Lodo."
