He passed Swallow carefully and pushed the chamois to oneside roughly. Swallow turned her soft eyes to the Great Sultan as if to thank him, and then bounded gayly away.

Scarcely had the goat boy paused for breath when he cried out again in fright, "Swallow, what has got into your head?" The swift goat had now climbed as high as the Dragon Stones and had bounded up to the very edge of one of them, where she stood looking saucily down at him. Moni moved like lightning in the next few moments.
莫尼來不及停下來喘口氣就又害怕得大聲喊起來，“燕子，你到底在想什么呀？”那只敏捷的山羊已經爬到了山龍石上，并正好跳到了其中一塊巖石的邊緣，她站在那里調皮得往下看他。莫尼接下來如閃電般得往上爬。
If Swallow should make a single step forward, she would fall many feet below! The boy climbed hurriedly up and drew her back. "You come down with me, little silly." he scolded.

Moni led Swallow down and held her until she had forgotten all about her desire to run away.

"Where is Meggie?" shouted Moni suddenly as he saw Blackie standing all by herself on the edge of a steep, rocky wall. The young kid was always near her mother if she was not beside Moni. "What have you done with your kid, Blackie?" Moni cried, hurrying to where the goat stood.

The mother goat behaved very strangely. She ate nothing and stood in one spot with her ears pointed as if listening.
